Sugar Free Speedy Peanut Satay Sauce
5 ingredients. 1 minute. And it tastes AH-MAZING!
None of the faff of browning onions and slowly cooking ingredients. No hidden sugars.
Seriously, it barely merits a recipe for its ease but it is ever so delicious that it deserves it completely at the same time.
Coconut milk, peanut butter, lime, tamari, ginger. Sometimes I add a pinch of turmeric and pepper for colour, flavour and health benefits (turmeric is anti-inflammatory and amazing for anyone with an autoimmune disease in particular).
I like to make up a double batch of this to use to dip or pour over veggies or in our rainbow veg wraps. It’s an amazing snack when used as a dip or dressing (use more or less coconut milk to adjust thickness) as in my 30 Low Sugar Snacks e-book.
Sometimes learning to love vegetables involves serving them alongside something that boosts their flavour and coats them in extra yumminess. Enter the peanut sauce!
And it’s not just for vegetables. This peanut satay sauce is just as delicious when it’s coating cooked meat or fish, or as a burger sauce for an Asian twist. It’s particularly yummy with chicken or pork.
Kids will find this one a very simple one to make. Help them measure out the ingredients, then let them pour it all into a jar, screw the lid on tight and shake away!

Sugar and sweetener free, this simple peanut satay sauce uses only 5 ingredients and takes less than 1 minute! Just as delicious as a dressing or dip as it is as a sauce over cooked chicken or veggies.
- 8 tbsp no added-sugar peanut butter (use tahini for nut free), crunchy if you want to have a little peanut crunch in the sauce, or smooth for a silky one
- 250 ml (1 cup) coconut milk
- juice of 1 lime
- 2 tsp tamari
- 1 tsp fresh grated or minced ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric and a grind of black pepper, optional
-
Place all the ingredients in a jar, screw the lid on and shake until incorporated. If it's struggling to combine, heat for 10 secs in the microwave to soften the peanut butter and shake again.
Excellent stuff
Something I wanted add is in the search for a sugar free, palm oil free peanut butter I can highly recommend Morrison’s own brand as cut above all other contenders and I’ve tried many.
It’s around £1.78 per jar and we’ll worth it.
Who would have thought it from a own brand but it’s just so 😋
I made this to have with a chicken stir-fry and it was delicious. I have since used the leftovers as a dip and also stirred a dollop into a veggie stew which was lovely too. Satay is one of my favourite sauces and I wasn’t sure it would be as good sugar free, but this was perfect. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it Faye – we love it here (and anything peanut butter-based)! 🙂
